The folk music of Smålanders, ancient and full of life... .

The group resides in Värend, one of the small lands that give the county of Småland its name. From this ancient microcosm Sågskära makes occasional excursions to completely different musical worlds… .

Fiddles, voices, drums, harp, hurdy-gurdy and guitar are among the instruments that contribute to Sågskära’s special sound. The music spans the field between medieval drones and modern folk music.

Sågskära’s music balances innovation with the preservation of older musical stylistic features.This is why the group won the European Folk Arts Award in 2003!

Sågskära play for concerts and dances, in Småland, and in the rest of the world. Not least among its accomplishments, the group founded and are still the core organisers of the now major annual folk music festival at Korrö, where they are also the resident band.
